Mazu is an electric shaver that allows a new approach on the act of
electricshaving transforming it into the “art of shaving”, following the
principles of accuracy and precision of the traditional straight razor allowing
the public the easy interaction that only professional barbers could handle
with safety.
The fact of the cutting surface being longer and thinner releases the need of
“super ergonomic” properties, as in this case the more orthogonal forms are
the most versatile, and those that permit the maximum trust.
It does not need constant sharpening, as you can change the cutter (carbon
steel, long life) It permits the clean barber shave without using any shaving
cream and most Important without leaving home.
So the conscious design component of this project is to the shorten the
distance between electronics and humans meaning intuitive using, formal
simplicity and most of all to bring back the history of the object/function and
“print” it in the project as a mean to protect tradition and cultural habits.
